Bluegills on the beds?
 (N/A)

Has anyone found bluegills on the beds this year? I have been looking but not finding any in this area. The bluegils have been biting well on Spring Lake but the water is stained this year so beds cannot be seen. I have taken most fish in 7 to 15 ft. of water. Wax worms have been good bait. The females have been full of spawn which leads me to believe they have not bedded yet. I would like to do some fly fishing for gills but have had limited luck with that. Anyone out there with some info on fly fishing gills or bluegills on the beds, let me know.

Thanks, Terry

when I fly fish for gills I always use a hopper dropper rig its pretty simple it is just a big dry fly like a hopper or a big spyder with a leader tied to the shank of the hook that sinks a nymph under the top fly. your dry fly works as a big actracter and a bobber.

hope that helps ya get some for the hot oil!

Thanks Graham,
I just returned from Texas and am ready for some Michigan fishing. I did a lot of fly fishing in Texas for redfish and speckled trout. We had a great time but it is still good to get back to Michigan fishing.
Thanks again for the tip on bluegills on the fly.
