Grand Haven 9/20 Big King Contest(my report 8 for 9)
 (United States)

I fished the Big King Fishing Contest in Grand Haven today with Glen, Mark, and Roy. We left the pier heads at 6:30am and ran out to 80FOW and started setting lines. While setting lines we assigned one person to watching the rods. About half way through setting the lines, I looked at the center rigger and notice the rod standing up. Hmmmm....I think someone was suppose to be watching the rods.

I reset this rod, and procede to set a lead core when the wire diver in front of me starts hammering in the rod holder. I hand off the lead core I am setting and grab the wire diver. I get it out of the rod holder and nobody is home. I reel it in to reset it and check the hooks. One of the hooks was straight.

From here I do not remember all of the details. Our final tally was 8 for 9 and we had 4 or 5 knock offs. We caught 2 steelhead, 3 lake trout and 3 kings. Our big king for the tourney was a whopping 4.8lbs.

All of our fish came in 90-130FOW. The down temp was 57 degrees down 90'. We fished South of the pier heads.

We had a lot of fun on the water today, and we will do it again next year.
