Grand Haven Report
 (N/A)

Salmon fishing out of Grand Haven has been interesting thus far this year.  Limit catches can be caught one day in 25-50 foot of water and the next day you can't get a bite there.  For example, many boats did very well in the muddy water on Friday and Saturday, but Sunday, many boats had to go from 120-235 foot of water and catch a lot more Coho and much smaller-sized King Salmon.

Most fish have all been Coho and King Salmon, with the majority of the fish being Coho Salmon out in the deeper water.  Downriggers 30-55 feet down, Dipsy Divers back 90-130 feet, and 3-10 colors of Lead Core have all worked.  Downriggers have been by far the best and most consistent set-up.

The best lures have all been spoons.  Regular-sized Stinger spoons and Stingray spoons have all been very good.  Chip's Orange Shanster (both Gold and Silver Blades), Mixed Veggies, Blue Veggies, Natural Born Killer, Double-Edged Kevorkian, Coyote, Seasick, and Blue Mongoose have all been good.  Both sizes of spoons have been equally good.

More King Salmon should be arriving soon from down South.  The May fishing should continue to get better each week for the remainder of the month.  Good Luck and Get out Fishing!!!!!

Thank You for the report. The information you provided last year was a big help to me and my crew. Keep up the good work.
