The winners of the 2016 Grand Haven Steelheader's Youth Big Lake Fishing Contest are as follows:Ben Zelenka, Sam Zelenka and Sophie Erbentraut caught Chinook Salmon; Sage VanderWall caught a Coho and Kaylie Arnoldink caught a Steelhead. Congratulations to all the winners and a big "thank you" to the members who took them fishing. A reminder for 2017: the Youth Contest is open to any member who registers for the free Yearlong Contest and to any youth who catches a Big Lake fish on the member's boat and who is 12 years old or younger at the time the fish is caught.
GRAND HAVEN STEELHEADERS’ 2017 YOUTH FISHING CONTEST (Youth up to age 12)
A year long youth fishing contest for youth anglers up to age 12 .
There is NO registration form to complete.
All required information can be recorded on the weigh-in form.
Note that for this contest—all entries must be submitted by Sept. 6, 2017.
The awards will take place at the Salmon Festival Big King Contest weigh-in.
ELIGIBILITY: Youth anglers must be 12 years of age or younger at the time of the catch.
They must be accompanied by an adult member of the Grand Haven Steelheaders who is SIGNED UP for the YEARLONG CONTEST. The youth angler must 'fight' and land the fish.
CONTEST SPECIES: Chinook salmon, Coho Salmon, Steelhead, Brown Trout, Lake Trout
WEIGH-IN: Fish must be weighed on a designated scale. The weigh-in form must be filled out completely including youth angler's date of birth. The form must also be signed by the GH Steelheader member.
The weigh-in form must be presented by the contestant to the contest chairman, by mail or in
person, NO LATER THAN 2 WEEKS FROM THE CATCH DATE.

Scales are located at Lake View Tackle in Grand Haven & Fish On Bait and Tackle in Spring Lake.

Weigh-in, if necessary, can also be done on a commercial certified scale - indicate business name on form along with information on the youth angler. Pictures are encouraged but not required.

SCORING: All fish will be judged by weight only.
FISHING AREA: All Michigan waters of Lake Michigan, Lake Michigan drowned river mouths, inland waters
YOUTH CONTEST CLOSING DATE: All entries must be submitted by Sept. 6, 2017
AWARDS: Awards will be given for each of the categories. The presentations will take place at the Grand Haven Steelheaders Salmon Festival Big Fish contest weigh-in on Sept. 16, 2017 (weather date September 17)
