SPRING MEMBERSHIP MEETING and SWAP MEET
April 23, 2008
The Spring membership meeting
and swap meet will be on Wednesday, April 23 at the
Grand Haven VFW. The VFW is
located at the corner of First Street and Columbus.
(The location of the ’06 and
’07 spring meetings) Cash bar with
snacks provided.
The swap meet will begin at 6 p.m. with the membership meeting beginning at 7 p.m. This is a good time to swap stories and fishing
tips, sell your extra gear and find some great bargains on ‘new’ fishing gear.
Following a brief meeting,
our program will include 2 guest speakers:
Dan O’Keefe, District
Extension Educator for the southwest district of Michigan Sea Grant. Dan
will discuss the Michigan Sea Grant program and topics of concern to area
anglers.
Willis Kerridge, GH Charter
Boat captain, ThunderDuck Charters – Willis will share tips and tricks for
maximizing your angling time and increasing your catch rate.

BIG FISH TOURNAMENT
Friday, May 30, 2008
The Grand Haven Steelheaders are sponsoring a Big Fish
Tournament on Friday, May 30, 2008.
I. ELIGIBILITY
A. Open to any fishing team willing to abide by
Tournament rules, Michigan D.N.R. regulations and payment of entry fees. This
tournament is open to participants in the Ladies and Kids Tournament and
the Offshore Challenge
Tournament.
II. ENTRY FEES
A. Entry fee is $30 per boat pre-registration, $40 registration after May 16, 2008.
III. ENTRIES
A. If a sufficient number of entries are not received, registration fees will be
refunded on May 30 and 31.
IV. SCORING
A.
Awards will be made for first, second and third place.
B.
Winners will be determined by weight
of fish.
C.
One fish per registered boat may be
entered for the GH Steelheaders Big Fish Tournament
D. The following species shall be eligible:
Chinook Salmon, Lake Trout, Atlantic Salmon, Pink Salmon, Coho Salmon,
Brown Trout, Steelhead
V. WEIGH -IN
A. For participants in the Women and
Kids’ Tourney, a representative of the GH Steelheaders will be present at the
Women and Kids’ weigh-in station to record fish weight for those registered.
B. For all other boats, at
the close of the fishing period, the boat shall immediately proceed to the
designated GH Steelheader weigh-in station.
VI. DATES AND HOURS
A. The Tournament fishing date is Friday, May 30, 2008
B. Tournament Schedule:
1. Thursday, May 29, 2008, late registration can be done at the Captains’
meeting.
2. Friday, May 30, 2008
6:30 A.M. – Begin fishing
12:30 P.M. - All boats
must be inside pier head.
VII. AWARDS
A. Awards - cash prizes: 1st
place guaranteed $500, 2nd and 3rd to be determined by
number of entries.
Awards
will immediately follow completion of Women and Kids Tourney.
VIII. START & FINISH
A. Tournament control will start and end the Tournament by radio communication
on channel 06 FM.
B. Once
the fishing period is declared closed by Tournament control no more fish may be
boated. All boats most proceed directly to the designated weigh-in station.
Alternate fishing times may be established by Tournament control when
conditions so dictate.

A. Boundaries –for 2008
the boundaries will be: for the North - Little Sable Point 43`64200
South – Saugatuck Pier 42`41000; West -
State Line – Long 87 degree 00’ 00” W
