Fishing Reports

Grand Haven--Salmon anglers have been fishing the Grand River channel and all the way out to 300'. For anglers fishing the pierheads and channel J-Plugs in the colors of white and chrome w/ redhead have been working best. For anglers wanting to avoid the combat fishing, they can try 130'-300'. Downrigger depth is 40'-50'. Spoons and spinnie/fly combos in colors of yellow, green, and blue have all been working. This deeper fishing has been getting tough as the fish are on the move. Pier anglers are using alewives for bait and catching cohos and a few kings. A few anglers have caught perch in the 60' hole off the G.Haven State Park.
Muskegon--Again, salmon anglers are fishing from the channel out to 300'. The best water depth was 90'-180'. The downrigger depth was 50'. The baits for fishing out deeper are spoons and spinnie/fly combos and the same colors as G.Haven. Anglers say nothing is really "HOT", so try your favorite lures. Anglers fishing the channel are using J-Plugs too. White, green, and chrome have all worked.
I have not talked to any pier anglers and no perch.
