Hello and Happy Fathers Day weekend to all of us that qualify,

Fishing out of Grand Haven is still going very well for this time of year. The weather is continuing to provide challenging conditions on a daily basis but when you find fish they have been reasonably willing to bite. The best depths lately have been from 60 - 130 feet of water and with the water being cold fish have hit baits from surface to the bottom in this depth range. The bulk of the activity seems to be in the 35 - 55 foot down range on downriggers, divers and long lines. This morning (Friday) we caught kings, several nice steelhead, a lake trout and a coho for an extremely nice but rare mixed bag for mid June. The Dreamweaver Hello Darlin and Smashmouth were good along with the Stinger Orange/Green Edge, NBK and Blue Dolphin patterns. Our best speed was 2.9 - 3.2 mph as measured on our gps. One thing to keep in mind if you get out this weekend is that the Steelheader is taking it's annual sampling in the area. This morning he was working about a mile to the south of the piers in 50 - 90 ft of water. The nets are well marked and easy to see as long as you know they are there.

In the Grand River, the walleye and bass are still going strong but I don't have any additional info to add in regards to baits from previous reports.

Have a great weekend and I hope to see you on the water,

Matt Whitney
