The past week has provided very good fishing off Grand Haven for mature Kings and Cohoes as well as Steelhead. While cold water provided opportunities close to shore in 40 to 60 fow, increasing south winds have warmed the water and pushed the fish and the bait further out. White fishscale or wonderbread paddles with white or glow blue flies have been consistent producers off riggers and divers. Plugs in glow, white or chrome/red head have also taken fish. Late week provided action on spoons as well, with glow patterns being most successful. Large fish, Kings to 25 pounds, Coho to 12 as well as large Steelhead have all been caught, although numbers have been somewhat limited. Best action has been early and late in low light conditions. A reminder: check the condition of your navigation lights. These are not only required by law, but are an important safety issue. Several boats have been observed fishing in the dark with no or very limited lighting. Rich
