Fishing Reports

With warming surface temperature, fish are finally beginning to concentrate in the cooler depths. This past week, the temperature break has been around 65 feet down in 80 to 120 fow.  While some Steelhead remain available nearer the surface and also in  140 to 180 fow, the kings have begun to concentrate from 65 feet down to the bottom.  Steelhead are hitting the usual lures featuring red or orange patterns fished off leadcores from 3 to 7 colors.  Kings have been hitting Magnum spoons, glow early and then blues if cloudy and greens and yellows if sunny.  Spin Doctors and flies of the same colors have also taken fish.  Our best continues to be the meat rigs 50 to 100 feet back off the deep riggers, (87 down has been very good for us for some reason only the kings understand), with 15 foot leads off the divers 160 to 180 back, or on 300 copper.   Enjoy Coast Guard Week, fish early if you can and avoid the flies and the traffic.
