Fishing Reports

Fishing has slowed at both ports because few fish seem to be around, water is still cold, and also fishing pressure has been slow because of weather.

Grand Haven--Pier anglers are using spawn and casting for steelhead and browns still.  Some anglers have been throwing cast trying for alewives.  A very FEW alewife have been caught and used for bait.
Boat anglers have been trolling 25-75 FOW.  They are using short coppers and leadcore with their favorite spring color lures – mostly gold, orange and small spoons.
Perch fishing has also slowed because the perch are starting to spawn now.  Anglers are still in the 60 FOW holes.  Perch bait being used -  spikes, wigglers, and minnows.

Muskegon---Very few anglers have been fishing the piers; those out there are using spawn or casting.  Boat angling has also been slow.  Water is cold here too, so anglers have been fishing in the basin between the arms of the piers.  They are using small spoons in their favorite spring colors.
No perch report for Muskegon.
