Fishing Reports

Recent winds have brought very cold water to the nearshore.  Alewives have gathered for the pre-spawn near the harbor.  The result has been that Kings and Steelhead have followed and are biting in the warmer waters.  30 to 50 FOW seems to be best.  Small silver/orange and gold/orange spoons fished 12 to 24 feet down on riggers, 45 to 50 back on divers and on2,3 and 4 color lead cores have all taken fish.  Darker spoons or glow patterns such as JJ McMuffin, Hello Darlin' and Thriller have produced well in low light conditions.  A few fish have been taken on bright spinnies and flies as well.  Fish can also be found in 80 to 120 FOW, but are more scattered.  Bright spoons like the Veggies seem to work best here.  What I believe to be schools of perch were also marked south of the harbor in 35 to 45 FOW.
