Fishing Report from Amanda Butts, MDNR Fisheries Division:

I am sorry to say that my report for both Grand Haven/ Holland is extremely SLOW.
 
Salmon anglers have been fishing the channel with plugs.  White, pearl, silver with green or red, and the white with multi color dots have all taken fish.  Because the channel has been so slow anglers have been searching out deep.  Starting in 120 and working out, but that has not produced many fish or an sure fire pattern to catch fish.  Try your best spoons and spinnies/flies.
Pier anglers are also struggling for salmon or perch.  Anglers are trying either spawn, alewives, or casting spoons.  Alewives are hit and miss and small.
 
Perch anglers out of Holland are doing decent in 12-35ft.
 
The Grand Haven State Park has closed the Fisherman's parking lot due to widening the lot to make more parking and up grades to the lot.  Fisherman can still access the south pier by parking in the main state park parking lot and walking to the pier.  The Fisherman's lot should be open again by Nov. 4th.
